Free Skyrim level-of-detail mod

DynDOLOD is a free LOD mod for Skyrim that improves the appearance of static objects in the distance based on the load order. It works on a dynamic distance system to let you see trees and other items in the distance better with clearer graphics. There’s a live forum where gamers can discuss issues pertaining to the installation and performance.

The level of distance works so well that other mods require DynDOLOD to function correctly. While it’s easy to install and apply, you’ll need an understanding of how the load order works to grasp the technology. For other cool Skyrim mods, you can try Rudy ENB, Undeath, and Forgotten Medieval Plate Armor.

Improved level of distance

In the vanilla version of Skyrim, there’s only so far you can look into the distance before objects begin to fade from vision. Even when you gain the ability to fly a dragon, or you find a quest that drops you from the sky, or you look down from the Throat of The World, there’s only so much you can see in the vista. DynDOLOD improves the level of distance so that it becomes clearer to see trees, buildings, and other static objects.

Affect on other Skyrim mods

Surprisingly, there are other Skyrim mods that require DynDOLOD to work properly. If you don’t have it installed, you won’t really see the true intended effect. For example, you’ll need it for Enhanced Landscapes, Indistinguishable Vanilla Tree Billboards, Mountains Enhanced, and Regional Snow and Ice, to name a few.

Installation requirements

When it comes to the installation, DynDOLOD tends to lean on the heavier side of requirements. For instance, you’ll need PapyrusUtil - Modders Scripting Utility Functions if you’re running a Nexus installation. You may also need SKSE and Vanilla Skyrim LOD Billboards if you’re installing off-site. If you already have some DynDOLOD resources loaded, you might need to remove them before running a new installation.

Look far into the distance

DynDOLOD is incredible for improving how objects look in the far distance. There are some hefty requirements, but the installation is easy if you know how load orders work. You’ll love how the items look with the stunning graphics.

Our team performs checks each time a new file is uploaded and periodically reviews files to confirm or update their status. This comprehensive process allows us to set a status for any downloadable file as follows:

Clean

It’s extremely likely that this software program is clean.

What does this mean?

We have scanned the file and URLs associated with this software program in more than 50 of the world's leading antivirus services; no possible threat has been detected.

Warning

This software program is potentially malicious or may contain unwanted bundled software.

Why is the software program still available?

Based on our scan system, we have determined that these flags are possibly false positives.

What is a false positive?

It means a benign program is wrongfully flagged as malicious due to an overly broad detection signature or algorithm used in an antivirus program.
